The Facts about Anxiety Disorders and Panic Attacks

Anxiety and panic disorders are the most common emotional disorder. It is reported that one out of every 76 people worldwide will experience a panic attack in their lives. Each year around 1/3 of American adults have at least one panic attack while most of these adults never develop repeated panic attacks. Only 21% of people who ever suffer from anxiety and panic attacks reach out for professional help.

Do I have Anxiety and Panic Disorder?

The truth is if you experience one or several of the following symptoms, it is very likely that you have it: heart palpitations, sweating, trembling or shaking, sensations of shortness of breath or smothering, feeling of choking, chest pain or discomfort, nausea or abdominal distress, dizziness or light-headedness, derealisation or depersonalisation, fear of losing control or going "crazy", fear of dying, paresthesia, and chills or hot flushes.

What you don't know about Anxiety and Panic Disorders

We receive thousands of emails via our web site from anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) suffers every month. What is very apparent from most of these is that people have a lot of misconceptions about anxiety and panic disorders. In order to cure them we need to know some facts about them first.

Firstly, anxiety and panic disorders are NOT mental illnesses. They are just behavioral conditions stored as memory, instinct and habit in the Amygdala, an almond-shaped set of neurons inside the brain. The National Institute of Mental Health has confirmed that conditions such as anxiety, depression, autism, PTSD, OCD, and phobias are caused by abnormal functioning of the Amygdala.

Secondly, anxiety and panic disorders conditions CAN be eliminated 100% permanently, contrary to what most believe. We already know that stress, bereavement and life circumstances are just the triggers for the anxiety and that Amygdala is THE cause. If we can change the way the Amygdala reacts, you'd be anxiety free. The good news is we can change the reaction of Amygdala quickly and permanently with immediate results.

Please visit our Anxiety Panic Away website listed below for more information on how your can permanently cure anxiety and panic attacks so you can make an informed decision as to the best course of treatment that would best fit you.

Panic Attack Symptoms: A First-hand Account Of The Symptoms Experienced During A Panic Attack

I seriously feel that if you’ve never been unfortunate enough to have experienced a panic attack then, it would be very difficult, if not impossible to realise just how overwhelmingly frightening they really are. On the other hand, if you have been in the unfortunate position of experiencing one first hand, then I doubt that you could ever forget just how brutal they are.

So what are the most common panic attack symptoms? Well, first of all you must appreciate that when you’re in the middle of one, the last thing on your mind is making mental notes about your current physiological and mental state. But thinking back to my panic days, the following list springs to mind:

1) Dry mouth.
2) Tensing of my stomach muscles.
3) A slight feeling of nausea.
4) Sweaty hands and feet.
5) People used to tell me that my face went as white as a sheet.
6) Pounding heart.
7) Shallow breathing.

There were possibly more than this but that’s all I can recall at this moment in time.

As I became more used to experiencing panic, I became able to spot the above symptoms and in doing so was then able to distract myself one way or another in order to prevent an attack reaching its peak. I will add though, that, for me, using distractions to ward off panic was a very hit and miss affair and it did nothing to reduce the massive amounts of anxiety that I had to deal with.

Now, when the panic peaked, it used to feel similar to someone hitting me hard in the chest with a soft hammer repeatedly. And these “hammer” blows would “echo” right through my body all the way down to my feet. Whilst this was happening, I would experience an overwhelming level of raw fear. In my case, the panic attacks only seemed to last for a few moments but they may have lasted longer in real time.

Once the panic had subsided, I would feel very light-headed and “not there” for at least thirty minutes afterward, sometimes, over an hour. And, if the truth be known, I wouldn’t feel completely myself for the rest of that day.

The panic attack symptoms that I’ve described above were more or less what I used to experience. But please be aware that it's sometimes difficult to attempt to describe physical sensations using only words. I’m also quite sure that other sufferers will have encountered different experiences when they come face to face with their panic.

I lived for all too many years with panic and anxiety as my close companions. They ruined my life by taking my love for life and replacing it with constant dread and fear. Panic and anxiety are both curable. I conquered mine and my lust for life returned just like it had never been away.

How to get the most from membership sites

They are everywhere and every marketer is creating them, a lot of them are offeruing low cost trial's of their membership sites but there is only so much time that a person can sit in front of their computer, connected to the internet. I, fortunatekly have a broadband connection and my computer is hooked to the internet 24 hours a day. But at times, when a lot of people are surfing, the connection can become real slow. and yet there are still people that only connect using a dial up account.

so, How can you take advantage of one of these trial accounts for a membership site. one of the many ways is by using an offline browser. When i first take advantage of a new mebership on one of these sites I'll connect with my offline browser which downloads the site to my own computer and then i can surf the site on my own time. When one of these browsers downloads a site to your system it changes all the links so there is no difference from using the site on your own system as opposed to using it while online. except for the fact that on your own system you won't have to worry about surfing the net when everybody else is. The duplicate site on your own system will run much more smoothly and faster. Now one thing to keep in mind is that some of these site's when downloaded could take up a gig of space or more on your own hard drive but usually i transfer these sites to a DVD via my DVD burner.

The only time i'll remain a member to one of these sites after my trial has expired isif I feel that the new posts will be something that i'll benefit from. So far very few have met this criteria but one of the ones i stay a member is the one run by Dan Kennedy. He sends out newsletters both via email and a hard copy once a month in the mail.

I just signed up for one trial tonight which offered a trial mambership for the first month of only a dollar. If I decide to stay a member past the first month the membership is just under $30 per month but if I don't monitor myself these memberships can add up.

The beauty of a trial membership and an offline browser is that once my trial has expired I still have akll the information that was offered for a lower price. I also want to mention that a lot of these marketers never purge their database of the old memberships that don't remain membbers. What this means is that your username and password will still work a year or two later even though you never kept paying a membership fee.

If i had a membership site i would make the password change every month. Give everybody the same password instead of letting them create their own.

Creating A Cash Generating Membership Site (on A Shoestring Budget)

By now you must have heard many online celebrities talking about how you should set-up your own membership site in order to create substantial, automatic profits...month in, year out. Is it all hype or can you really create your own dynamic membership site and get paid $29, $29 or even $97 plus every month?

I'll show you today that creating your own membership site is something that is highly achievable to practically every internet entrepreneur around - and unlike the old days (when setting up membership sites would set you back potentially hundreds of dollars a month) it's not going to deflate your Paypal account a bit.

The Benefits Of Creating Your Own Membership Sites

For a start, consider the age that we are living in - "the information age" - today, people are willing to pay good money for a regular stream of targeted, quality information (or software) in areas that are of interest to them. Sure, a lot of information is available free on the internet but the fact is that places like Google are just jam packed with sites that offer little more than thinly disguised sales pages. It takes forever to find quality information, and with todays lifestyle time is the one commodity that people simply do not have.

The result? They will PAY you for information that hits the spot as long as they get it NOW! This makes the membership site business model highly potent. Consider these advantages & benefits of setting up your own membership sites:

You can exploit your areas of expertise and create a full or part time business simply by disclosing your knowledge/skills into your members site.

A successful & profitable membership site can be started for practically any niche under the sun from rose-gardening to the Mumbai stock market! There are an unlimited number of niches that have markets with prospects that number in the millions.

While members sites used to be for the elite with budgets in excess of thousands of dollars the emergence of quality, mainstream software means that just about anyone can set-up with minimal capital requirements (I mean under $100).

Membership sites enable you to take advantage of residual streams of income - the beauty of this business model is that you can focus on providing tip-top content so that your members continue to deposit monthly subscription fees into your bank account. In effect, you're creating a monthly salary for yourself without the nuisance of having a pathological liar of a boss hovering over your shoulders every two minutes.

Membership sites only increase in value with each passing month. This means the longer your site is open, the more content/products are inside and the more subscriptions you'll receive.

Owners of membership sites are able to use their sites to gain an awful lot of leverage & engineer win-win situations for themselves. The great thing about digital information is that they spit out 100% profit-margins - the cost of producing a members site is negligible but you can use your membership site to trade with other product owners - in this way you can actually get webhosting, graphics, software and even opt-in subscribers free.

While stand-alone eBooks & mini-sites will always have their place, membership sites offer something far more valuable - both to the internet business owner as well as the end user.

What Type Of Niches Can You Set-Up A Membership Site In?

Certain types of niches are simply made for a membership style structure, typically niches with a huge number of potential topics.

The below are just some examples of the types of niches that you could set-up membership sites in:

- Internet marketing related content & products.

- Finance, money, property & stock market.

- Health, beauty & fitness.

- eBay, power-selling & wholesale goods/dropshippers.

- Career development.

- Gardening.

You have to understand that this is a TINY list of the potential possibilities - the fact is you could turn practically any subject matter into a membership-site.

Are There Any Difficulties In Setting-Up A Membership Site?

The main issue with setting up a content based membership site used to be the expense involved with running it. For example, one quite famous option that many people still use has an entry pricing plan of $3500 - that's for one single URL with a maximum of 1000 members and 1000 pages.

Not exactly within the budget of the average internet business entrepreneur!

Don't panic because recently, a couple of classy mainstream membership site creation software have been released that allow you to set-up as many members sites with as much content as you want for a tiny fraction of that (more on that later in case you're interested).

So now that funding is no longer an obstacle let's look at some other potential stumbling blocks that you will need to consider before diving in head-first into your first membership site project:

Can you install the software? This may sound like a silly thing to say - after all the software you can buy come with detailed instructions but some very fresh newbies (ie those that struggle with things like setting up payment links) may struggle to install the software. Even where this is the case, they can of course have the software installed for them for a low fee (typically $20 to $50) via online forums or using services such as elance. Those that can set-up web-pages comfortably should not really struggle too much with software installation.

Can you commit to providing fresh content, resources & value-adding material that will delight your subscribers? Remember, people will be paying you monthly so you have to make sure that you have the time, knowledge and ability to provide them with whatever it is that you're offering.

What Features Should Your Membership Site Have?

Your membership site should function quite smoothly on auto-pilot and you must offer your potential prospects the chance to pay using standard options (in the information field this is typically Paypal).

Here are a few features that you may want to look out for when considering your options RE purchasing membership site software:

-Ability to accept recurring Paypal payments.

- Subscriber should be able to automatically set-up an account with ZERO interaction on your account.

- Once subscriber ends the subscription the members-site should automatically deny them access without any interaction from you (your time is far too valuable for you to be fidgeting with manual things like deleting accounts every few hours).

There should be no limit to the number of websites that you can set-up using the software - or to the amount of content/pages that you can set-up. Once you get the taste of running a membership site you may well want to open another one...and another still - you don't really want to pay separate fees for each new site you create.

Setting up your first membership site will be your biggest challenge. Once you implement a successful first members-site then you'll have the skills and experience to create plenty more in the future - all churning out hundreds of $29 monthly payments like clockwork!

Introduction to Gold and Silver Investing

2008 was an interesting year for gold and silver investing. Towards year's end we saw record numbers of new investors who chose to get into gold and silver investing, forgoing the usual stocks and realty investment options that have become turbulent and unpredictable, to put it nicely, over the last few years.

People have opted to buy into metals for a very simple reason: Metals investing is simply more stable. Stock investments can go belly up, investment banks can close and realty prices can plummet. Meanwhile, while gold and silver do have their ups and downs, the historical tendency has always been for metal prices to rise over time and this is exactly why gold and silver investing is growing in popularity while fewer and fewer companies are offering solid 401K packages.

Most recently, precious metal investment grade coins have become a very popular option for gold and silver investing. This is due simply to their convenience. If you're new to metals and want to buy gold and silver you might think of bars and bricks, and that's easy enough if you're a billionaire, but gold and silver St. Gaudens and similar coins make it easy to put a few hundred dollars into your metals investment at a time. When you see that the prices of gold and silver are about to rise you can simply buy gold and silver coins, just enough to top your investment off and then not worry about it. Likewise if you need a little cash for a rainy day, you don't need to cash in thousands of dollars worth of metal at a time, you can simply sell as many coins as you need to sell in order to meet your goals or take care of unforeseen circumstance.

It's simply a smart option. Where stocks and realty have become wild and unpredictable, precious metals have almost always been solid to some extent. Certainly metals do have their declines now and then, but the price almost invariably tends to recover quite quickly. True, the pay off for metals may be less "explosive" than stocks, which have a tendency to rise overnight, but that also means that metals won't crash overnight either.

It's certainly a good thing that more and more people are turning to metals as the foundation of their investments and we can only hope that they retain these metals investments. In the past there has been something of a tendency for people to jump into gold and silver investing during times of crisis, only to cash in the minute the American dollar starts to take a turn for the better.

The fact is that you'd be wise to hold onto your metals investments in times of both economic strife and economic ease. Metals are not a "desperation" option, but rather an option to keep investors from ever having to become desperate. By keeping some amount of money in metals as opposed to cash, investment accounts, or other options, you should be able to always have money for a rainy day.

What Are the Options in Digital Hearing Aids?

Millions of people throughout the planet experience some degree of hearing loss. Fortunately, there are state of the art hearing aids available that provide these people with a chance to hear normally once again. The only problem is, there are so many different technologies and styles to choose from that it can be quite overwhelming to know what you need.

Most people these days will use a digital hearing aid, which has replaced the older, less efficient analog technology. With the latest technological advances, the cost of most of these devices has come down considerably. That makes them more affordable for many people, which has led to a decline in popularity of the older but cheaper analog styles. These modern devices can be found in four different types, and the kind you use will depend on your degree of hearing loss and what you can afford.

The "completely in the canal" (CIC) device is very small and, as its name suggests, fits completely inside the ear canal. But because of its relatively smaller size, it doesn't have as many features as some of the other models. The "in the canal" (ITC) style sits partially in the ear canal. The "in the ear" (ITE) model fits around the outer edge of the ear. The "behind the ear" (BTE) device is worn in back of the outer ear.

The latest digital hearing aids have a number of features that offer many advantages to those with hearing loss problems. For example, the most recent innovations involve advanced signal processing techniques that produce amazingly clear sound quality. Many of the latest devices are able to adapt to the current circumstances. They can actually distinguish between speech and other noises, and will suppress any background noise so that you are able to hear the conversation more clearly.

Most of these devices can be programmed to your personal requirements, and are also able to be reprogrammed if your hearing abilities continue to decline.

They provide a high degree of flexibility and will adapt to various situations. You won't have to adjust the volume every time you move to a new location, because it will do this itself. Various kinds of volume adjustment help to minimize distortion and provide crystal clear amplification. The digital processors filter the noise around you in order to provide superior sound quality.

You need to make sure you are purchasing a well made, high quality digital hearing aid. There are several well-established brand names to choose from, including Siemens, Beltone, Starkey, Phonak, Oticon and Rexton. These products feature the latest in technology, with an extensive assortment of features, styles and sizes to fit anyone's needs and budget.

Today's digital hearing aids are certainly exciting in terms of the benefits they can provide to those suffering from hearing loss. And the future is also bright with the promise of even better technologies to come.

Modern technology has led to the development of hearing aids that are smaller, more convenient and extremely reliable. These devices are able to amplify even the smallest sounds. Learn more at Hearing Aids Online.

Resource Directory Development-The Yellow Pages of the Internet

Directory development is a growing popular method for gaining quality content and traffic for a website. Resource directories consist of a number of links to other sites within a category of the directory-Just like the Yellow Pages organize businesses by category. Website owners who are considering using directories to promote their site should know why directories are important and what they do. And those who are considering their own directory should know about resource directory development.

Directories are very important for any website owner. When submitting to a directory, the URLs are typically human reviewed for quality assurance. By getting accepted it means your site meets the directories guidelines and is a quality site. Some directories are more difficult to get into like Yahoo! or DMOZ. Yahoo! charges $299 for a directory inclusion, while submissions to DMOZ are subject to an editors’ approval.

Many websites seek out directories they can submit to. On a daily basis a website owner will seek out several directories and add their site. This increases their number of inbound links, and well as increasing their visibility on the internet.

Tips for Submitting to Directories
*Include the most important keywords in the title.

*Submit your homepage. Directories will typically not accept extensions. It is good if your URL has your keywords in it.

*Write a good description free of grammatical errors. It will save time to write two descriptions, one long and one short, for different directories.

Some directories focus on a particular niche, while others have categories for just about everything. An example of a targeted directory would be one that only accepts sites about search engine marketing or search engine optimization. Choosing a niche directory that relates to the keywords of the site will help bring more visibility to that particular directory as well as the links.

If developing a directory for your own site there are some important things to keep in mind. It must be search engine friendly so it may be indexed properly. Choose categories carefully so they are aimed at your market or the markets to which you wish to appeal. Also don’t let categories go to deep. The more pages away from your homepage you get, the lower becomes the ranking of the directory pages. Make sure the directory is functional so other websites can easily add their URLs. An email notification is a good idea. An acceptance email will not only reassure the website owner but also help you to develop more relationships with other website owners.

Tips for Directory Development
*Keep listing results small, to about 20 a page. More than that can be overwhelming and confusing to users seeking out information.

*Maintain and update your directory frequently. Search engines like to see a site updated regularly, and maintaining the directory will assure that all the links are still functional and that all the URLs still exist.

*Incorporate the look of your website into the directory. This will help users to associate the directory with your site.

Always keep in mind that you want to represent the best of your site in any listing. So whether you are submitting to the best directories or creating your own directory make sure you are providing the most accurate information and the best possible representation of your site.

Opt-In List Building - Understand This and You Will Build a Profitable Home Based Business

It's common knowledge that opt-in list building is one of the pillars of building a home based internet business. As one writer says, "The list is your business." But why is it then that so few who are starting an internet business actually do their own opt-in list building?

This is the first in a series of three articles on this subject. In this article I answer the question, "What exactly is a list?" A clear understanding of what a list is and its strategic role in building an online business is foundational to building a quality email list. Secondly, I address the question of "quality." Many advertize ways of building a huge list, but few address the question of insuring the "quality" of the list. The difference between having a mediocre list and a quality list is huge! The latter will make you so much more money. The third article answers the question, "Why give opt-in list building priority?" I will be showing you some hard facts on the relationship between list building and money making.

By the end of this article, you should have a clear understanding of what opt-in list building actually is and have several images that will help you visualize the strategic role of list building in starting an internet business.

Definition of "Opt-In Building"

What is variously called an "opt-in list", an "email list" or just a "list" is the data base of people, their names and email addresses, that are interested in you and in your niche. They are the people who like what you provide and are willing to hear from you periodically. These people are looking for information about any one of hundreds of subjects (the best cell phone to get or how to use auto-responders or whatever) You make a value exchange with them. You offer them information, in the form of a report, a newsletter, a course, etc in exchange for their name and email.

The reason for this is that statistically 95% of customers will not buy a product the first time they look at it. They visit your site and see your offer and then are gone, likely forever! You want a chance to put it before them periodically. It is said that it takes about 7 exposures for the average buyer to make up their mind to buy. Furthermore, even those who don't buy might be interested in other products that you will offer in the future. You'd like the chance to continue to give this interested group of people, your opt-in list, information of value and expose them to other products that would serve them. That's the theory of an email list.

The way to do opt-in list building is by offering an information product (an e-book or a subscription to a newsletter) on a "squeeze" page where they must give their name and email to get your offer. Or there might be a registration form on a home page of a website to get the product.

A List Is: Images for visualizing the role or function of opt-in list building

· A List Is An Audience You Can Sell To. A store builds a customer base through its location, its publicity and its reputation. They know that if there are no customers coming through their doors they will make no sales. With the internet, your email list is your customer base. Sure, you can drive traffic to your site through umpteen different means, but they are just one time visitors. The profitability of your online business depends on having a customer base. It is your audience. You have to grow your audience otherwise you have no one to sell to and you make no money. These are the people you constantly seek to give value to and in doing so you build trust and rapport with them. You want them to be a loyal audience who love to give you business.

· A List Is a Beeper to Remind Your Audience That You Are Available to Serve Them. It takes time to build a relationship. The saying, "Out of sight, out of mind" is still true of people. Hence, your opt-in list provides you with a way of regularly getting the attention of your loyal audience of customers. You keep reminding them of products you offer and of value you want to give them.

· A List Is a Key That Opens the Door to Success. You're starting an internet business. Your goal is to make money with the hope of one day replacing your job income and permitting you to retire or some such goal. The two most important assets for being successful in your home based internet business is first "information" and second "your email list". Without information you have nothing to offer people to make them want to be on your email list. But just as important, you may have lots of good information, but if you have no list, or a small list, or even a mediocre large list you still can't make much money. So your opt-in list building is your key to making good money on the internet.

You now understand what opt-in list building is and you have these three visual images which graphically illustrate the role of an email list: 1) the list as audience to sell to, 2) the list as beeper to remind loyal members of your offers, and 3) the list as key to making good money online. In the next two articles in this series I will discuss what makes for a "quality list" and why and how to make opt-in list building a priority in your online business building.

The Benefits (And Drawbacks) Of Buying Designer Kitchenware Products

If you are in the market for kitchenware, you may be considering making the purchase of designer kitchenware products. As you debate the purchase of designer kitchenware products, you may be wondering what are some of the pros and cons to making the purchase of these types of products in this day and age. As with so many things in the 21st century, there definitely are pros and cons to making the purchase of designer kitchenware products.

Of course, for many people, one of the downsides to making the purchase of designer software is the price. In many instances, these types of products can be rather pricy. Indeed, depending on what type of product that you are considering making the purchase of, when it comes to the designer brands, these items oftentimes can be budget busting propositions.

Many people in this day and age have found themselves living on very restrictive budgets. Thus, if you want to attempt to save a bit of money on designer kitchenware products, you will want to spend the time shopping around. Again, keep in mind that deals that might be available in regard to designer kitchenware are to be found both in cyberspace and in the brick and mortar world. You will not want to limit your shopping to only one of these two important shopping venues.

Even considering the price issue, there are many benefits to be had by purchasing designer kitchenware. The greatest benefit to be had through the purchase of designer kitchenware is the fact that you will be able to stylish kitchenware products in your own home. Dog Health Questions With a Common Answer

As a homeopath, I understand what we call 'maintaining causes' of disease. In other words health problems can not only be caused by an event such as an accident or be hereditary in origin, but it can also be caused by something you're doing every day.

Let me give you some examples. If you smoke regularly, it's widely known that you'll probably eventually get lung problems. If you've had a job which entails handling and cutting asbestos, you'll probably have lung problems later on. If you regularly drink a lot of alcohol, you know your liver will eventually be affected.

Diet plays a crucial part in health. Most people realize that they need to look to healthy food to keep them in the peak of condition.

You are what you eat. It's not the only factor which can contribute to ill health, but by virtue of its daily consumption, food plays an enormous role in your overall health. And it's no less true for dogs. What you feed your dog will reflect how healthy he is and how healthy he remains.

I have found, in my practice, that an enormous number of common dog health questions can be answered, simply by taking the dog off commercial dog food. When I was feeding my pets commercial pet food, many years ago, I read of a remarkable life changing experience for a young dog. She was only about three years old, but had developed such severe arthritis, that the vet recommended euthanasia. The dog's people were not happy with this recommendation and decided to look elsewhere. They searched extensively and eventually come across the notion that the food they were feeding her could be the problem. So they stopped feeding her commercial pet food.

One day, a friend dropped by. One who knew the dog and the prognosis. As he crossed the yard to the house, he noticed an agile dog playing and frolicking about, as only young dogs can. Assuming the worse, he started to give his condolences. He was gobsmacked when he was told that this was the very same dog.

That's when I decided to stop feeding my pets commercial pet food.

It really doesn't matter what dog health questions you have. It could be anything. The first thing you really need to try is stopping the commercial dog food. If you're a bit unsure, try it for a month. After an initial worsening of symptoms (signally a clearing), especially in older dogs, your dog will start to bloom.

What have you got to lose?

It's really pointless going for a medication or other form of treatment if the food your dog is given is the problem. So lets have a look at some common dog health questions, which may all be addressed by stopping the commercial pet food.

My dog:

  • has a terrible skin itchy skin
  • has arthritis
  • is overweight
  • has heart problems
  • has spinal myelopathy
  • is infertile
  • regularly gives birth to dead puppies, or the puppies die soon after birth
  • has kidney stones
  • has hip dysplasia
  • has tumours
  • has cystitis

Holistic veterinarians has all been able to address the above dog health questions with a change of diet off commercial pet food.

Why You Should Get A Massage

I'm giving busy people everywhere permission to schedule a personal massage. Why? Because I'm alarmed by how few people I know that have taken the time to indulge in a relaxing and therapeutic massage.

There are many reasons that you, no matter who you are, should be getting a massage regularly. One of the biggest and most obvious reasons that a massage should be a regular part of your life is because of how relaxing and stress relieving it is. We a all know that life is stressful and demanding. What you may not realize, however, is how much that stress affects your physical body. Massage is an amazing way to de-stress and unwind after a busy week. When life is stressful our muscles quickly reflect our stress by becoming tense and knotted up. A massage can release the tension in your muscles in no time.

A massage will not only relax your body, but it will also relax your mind. Hearing Aids and Glasses: Leveling the Sensory Playing Field

Since time immemorial, people have referred to the eyes as “windows to the soul”, yet blind and deaf Helen Keller said "Hearing is the deepest, most philosophical sense man possesses."

For centuries, sight impaired people have worn glasses without being labeled “mentally defective.” Meanwhile, those with hearing impairment have suffered enormous prejudice. Labeled as “old", "stupid", "mentally ill", or "selective listeners", many hearing impaired people live in denial, or refuse to wear hearing aids because they are afraid of being branded.

For decades, quality eye glasses and contact lenses have been purchased for around 100 dollars but until recently, hearing aids were so expensive that only the wealthy could afford high quality corrective instruments.

Year upon year, eye glasses are fashionably designed in various shapes and colors to enhance physically attractiveness. Conversely, hearing aids are designed to be “discreet”, and manufactured in skin tones because they are deemed unsightly.

Every day, thousands of people submit their prescriptions for eye glasses and contacts lenses online. Orders are then shipped directly to them within 24 hours. At the same time, people seeking hearing correction call ahead for appointments, fight traffic, and look for parking to obtain help.

So how can we level the playing field? First, we must acknowledge that hearing impairment does not signal old age or intellectual inferiority. Admittedly, those who endure uncorrected sight impairment or hearing loss can be at a disadvantage, because they may be unable to decipher everyday sensory signals. Fortunately, excellent solutions for the hearing impaired are now readily available.

With the advent of technology, full-featured 100% digital aids incorporating advanced noise canceling and sound amplification computer chips can be produced inexpensively. There is no need to pay thousands of dollars for comfortable, top-quality hearing aids to correct moderate to moderate-severe hearing loss and reduce sound feedback inside the ear.

Hearing aids can also be fashionable and fun. Colorful hearing aids incorporating gemstones can optimize individual attractiveness. Such hearing aid solutions maximize intimacy at home, and empower communication in the workplace. They signal pride, and are sported by those who stay in the game and keep their edge. I have never met a woman who doesn’t like diamonds, and I believe that most men feel successful when they own the latest and the best.

After consulting with a physician to ensure a hearing aid will benefit them, hearing impaired clients can select the size, model, color, and stone they prefer, and input a current audiogram online. 100% digital hearing aids are custom programmed to meet their prescriptive correction requirements, and shipped within 24 hours. Clientele can take advantage of instructional videos, extended warranties, and a 45-day money back guarantee.

Hearing loss acts as a “silent thief”, robbing the individual of life’s pleasures. While hearing correction restores vitality and self-esteem to the individual, spouses, family members, and coworkers also reap life-changing benefits. Instead of shouting and continually repeating themselves, they can relax, maximize the moment, and enjoy the playing field.

Choosing Rainwear - Raincoat Versus Umbrella

Choosing the right rain gear is important. There are many different types of rainwear available, but umbrellas are still a very popular means of keeping one's self dry. If you live in a climate that does not include very much rain, or one that only sees minimal rainfall, an umbrella might work just fine. On the other hand, if you live in an area where rain is frequent, you may want to consider purchasing a raincoat or some other form of rainwear that will help keep all of you both warm and dry.

Raincoats have several advantages over umbrellas. While an umbrella will keep more than one person dry at a time, it is often difficult to hold it over two heads simultaneously. Add to that an additional person and you can seethe chances of anyone staying dry quickly diminishing. Raincoats, however, will keep all who wear them dry. Should you choose to wear a rain jacket and couple it with rain pants, you are increasing your chances of staying dry because more of you is covered. Add to that a pair of rain boots and you are good to go.

Umbrellas also have the uncanny ability to flip inside out in even the slightest of breezes let alone when the wind is really blowing. They are also difficult to hold on to while carrying other items such as a bag or a purse. Raincoats free up your hands, thereby allowing you to carry multiple items. Granted these items won't stay dry, but if you own a waterproof backpack, you may want to consider using it when it rains.

You may even decide to wear a raincoat and carry an umbrella. This is not a bad idea, especially if you have an aversion to hoods. This way you will be able to keep your entire body dry from head to toe without the need for a hood.

While there is certainly nothing wrong with using an umbrella, after all they have become very popular, a raincoat might be a good choice if you plan to be out in a rain quite a bit. The type you choose will depend on your activities as will whether or not you use other types of rainwear. The good news is you will have many options from which to choose so should have no problem making the right decision.

Are Digital Hearing Aids Better Than Analogue Hearing Aids?

How do they differ?

Analogue hearing aids use a amplifier to raise all sounds by a certain amount, which can be adjusted by a simple volume control. The problem with this is that hearing loss is rarely equal over the range of pitches and by raising the volume to hear speech, we will be raising the level of background noise as well. Difficult! In fact many of us have been put off wearing a hearing device for just that reason.

The latest digital hearing instruments from manufacturers like Phonak, Oticon and Resound can be set not to enhance background noise, and to just concentrate on hearing speech, which is what hearing aids are designed to do. This means that digital hearing aids are much better for more difficult types of hearing loss, and for hearing in background noise.

The newest hearing instruments are also great at suppressing those unwanted sounds, incorporating features such as wind suppression and feedback cancellation. These two features can alone substantially improve ones listening experience.

Really for anyone wearing an analogue hearing aid they should try and listen to the benefits of these latest devices because the benefits really are incredible and must be experienced. Its sometimes considered a cliche to hear customers who are wearing the latest devices, comment that "it really has changed my life", or "i can hear birdsong again". But its really anything but a cliche and it is only when we are able to experience these amazing new advances in hearing health that we can trully see at the benefits they deliver.

If you've got an analogue hearing device, or even if you just think you've got a hearing loss, go and get a free hearing test from a local hearing audiologist and ask for a demonstration of digital hearing aids. It really is as simple as that, and anyone who is concerned about their hearing or currently wearing the older analogue style should go and have a look for themselves.

Align Your Body with a Chiropractic Treatment

What is Chiropractics?

Chiropractics is a medical system based on the theory that disease and disorders are caused by misaligned bones, especially in the spine, that obstructs proper nerve functions. Chiropractors manually manipulate the joints of the body and realign the spinal column.

Chiropractors are people who diagnose and treat disorders of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems. The philosophy of chiropractic medicine believes that skeletal imbalance and joint malfunction, particularly in the area of the spine, can cause pain and other problems. Chiropractors rely on palpitation, pressure, and manual manipulation of the joints and muscles to cure these problems.

Subluxation and chiropractic manipulation

Chiropractors use the term subluxation to depict the altered position of the vertebra and subsequent functional loss, thus determines the location for the manipulative treatment.

Chiropractic kinesiology

Chiropractors often use chiropractic kinesiology to treat structural imbalances and muscle and joint problems. Chiropractic kinesiology is a specific form of diagnosis using functional neurological muscle testing (FNMT) as a primary feedback mechanism to help determine the cause of an individual's chief complaint and to help evaluate our structural, nutritional and mental aspects of health.

Chiropractic treatment is suitable for everyone, including newborn babies, the elderly, pregnant women, and sports enthusiasts. Your chiropractor will help you to maintain your health, and keep your body aligned as it should, and by offering exercise and lifestyle advice for you to follow in the future.

Not all insurance covers chiropractic care. You will need to check with your health care provider. Most chiropractic offices will call and check on your coverage, but it is best to call your health provider prior to your visit.

Chiropractic treatment can be ongoing. You may achieve a degree of comfort after your treatments, but misalignment of joints can sometimes be reoccurring.

Beware The Lottery Scam

UK citizens have already been targeted by unscrupulous con men claiming that they had won the Canadian and Spanish lotteries. Unfortunately, many people fell for the scam and lost thousands of pounds as they responded to more and more telephone calls demanding cash to cover costs before their 'winnings' could be released. The cash is sent but the winnings don't exist.

It appears that things are getting worse instead of better with the UK National Lotto and EuroMillions being targeted along with successful syndicates such as e-Lottery. Also, the scams seem to be getting ever more sophisticated with people being contacted not just via email and telephone calls but by letter and text messaging as well.

These scams succeed because they are run by highly organized criminal gangs who are very professional. Both email and direct mail pieces are very convincing and telephone operators are very confident and reassuring. As always they target the most vulnerable, often the elderly. These people want 2 things:

Your Money
Your identity

So how does the lottery scam work?

THE PITCH:

They offer you something for nothing - such as:

you've won a major prize in a draw or a lottery (even though you haven't entered one)

THE STING

They'll ask you to:

send money up front - an administration fee or tax, the list is endless but it's always a ruse to get you to give them money.

give them your bank, credit card or other personal details.

How to avoid becoming a lottery scam victim:

use your common sense! If you didn't enter a lottery ie buy a ticket up front, you can't possibly win it.

REMEMBER no legitimate lottery will ask you for any money in order for you to receive winnings.

If in doubt check with the official operators (all of them have warnings about this scam on their sites.

If you have received an email, text, letter or phone call that you believe to be bogus, delete it, throw it away or put the phone down. DO NOT reply in any shape or form. This will only confirm your details and leave you open to further targeting and harrassment. DO NOT be tempted to bank any monies that may have be sent as upfront payment. You will be liable.

NEVER reveal any personal, bank or credit card details.

DO seek advice from family, friends and other professionals.

Call Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06

Lottery scam warning signs include:

The use of hard to trace contact details such as free email addresses (yahoo, hotmail etc) and PO Box numbers.

the approach, whether in writing, by phone, email or text, is unsolicited

A very short time frame in which to respond to claim winnings.

A request for a 'processing' or 'administration' fee to obtain the winnings.

A request for personal, credit card or bank account details.

They ask you not to tell anyone about the deal.

Always remember that if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. However, despite the publicity surrounding the lottery scam it doesn't seem to be going away.

The Pros and Cons of Hearing Aids

Disposable hearing aids are designed for people with mild to moderate hearing loss. They are currently being marketed to aging baby boomers suffering from hearing loss.

Disposable hearing aids appeal to people who are not sure if they want to commit to wearing hearing aids and to those who are reluctant to invest in conventional hearing aids. Disposable hearing aids usually cost between $40 and $50 each, whereas conventional hearing aids can cost up to $900 for a pair. Digital hearing aids are the most expensive, costing up to $5,000 for the latest pair. Since conventional hearing aids can last for about five years, they can work out to be cheaper than disposable hearing aids in the long run.

Unlike conventional hearing aids, they are not custom fitted. They come in a various settings or prescriptions, selected to match the user's level of hearing loss. A disposable hearing aid's batteries cannot be replaced. They are designed to be thrown away after the batteries expire, which usually last for just over a month.

A disposable hearing aid can be made available immediately after a hearing test. There is no need to wait for it to be manufactured like a conventional hearing aid. There is also no cost associated with repairs or replacing batteries. If a disposable hearing aid breaks down, you just throw it away and get a new one. Should you lose your disposable hearing aid, the cost of a replacing it is far less than that of a conventional hearing aid.

While disposable hearing aids are sometimes described as one size fits all, they actually fit about 80% of adult male ears and about 60% of adult female ears. Most disposable aids are of the in the ear (ITE) type. Instead of being molded to the ear, they make use of a soft cap that provides an acoustic seal about halfway down the ear canal.

Disposable hearing aids have a short life span. They cannot be custom fitted and hence, some people find them uncomfortable to wear. Disposable hearing aids are not as flexible as modern digital hearing aids as they come in standard prescriptions. Perhaps the biggest concern of audiologists is that most disposable hearing aid users do not have their hearing checked on a regular basis, leading to potential uncorrected problems.

If you have a hearing problem, it is vital to see an audiologist or an ear, nose and throat (ENT) doctor who will determine your level of hearing loss and suitability to wearing a hearing aid. Although hearing loss is caused by noise or aging, it is important for a professional to rule out any underlying problem that requires medical treatment.

Win the Lottery - tips

Don't use family birthdays - this is a popular mistake!

Sure it lacks originality but more than that it reduces your chances of winning the lottery. Just think about it -- the days and months only go up to 31 and

12. Even if you do win the lottery using your birth digits, the chances are you'll have to split the winnings with more people. After all everyone's birthday

begins with 19 (and anyone who doesn't should not be playing the lottery). The same applies to buying a ticket when there's a bigger jackpot -- more people

play so the odds are more people win. Let's be honest you don't want to have to share your winnings with strangers anymore than you want to hear from your

second cousin twice removed after a 20-year silence.

Don't make a nice pattern!
Diagonal lines, straight lines, star shapes, boxes, zig-zags - doing this on your slip is silly. You might think you're being smart but again, you and

thousands of other people will have the exact same thought.

Check ball frequency!
They tell us it's all totally random, but certain balls have a knack of being drawn more freqeuntly than others. Find out which ones apear most often when

making your choices. Number seven and multiples of it are popular choices. And rightly so, number seven appears in the list of top 10 winning numbers in both

the South African and UK lotteries.

Actually check the results!
You'd be suprised how many people don't check whether they've won the lottery. What's more, winning tickets have to be claimed within 180 days of the draw,

otherwise the money goes off to the Lotto's Good Causes fund. A ticket worth £9,476,995 was once distributed in this way and it was the 24th prize in excess

of a million pounds to be unclaimed.

Become a worker!
Camelot recently released a list of the top Lottery-winning professions. Builders and workers have been the biggest winners, followed by administators and

managers. The unluckiest in the Top 40? Poor funeral directors.

Go for a tarot card reading
It's worked for some people. Housing officer Janette Wright was told by a tarot card reader that one day she would come into money. A few years later, she

bought a Lucky Dip and promptly won a £1,633,505 Lotto jackpot.
